WHO WE ARE

COCIMAR is an international construction company founded in January 1956, it is one of the engineering companies with more experience in the amount of projects throughout the Caribbean.

The Dominican College of Engineers Architects and Surveyors (CODIA, Colegio Dominicano de Ingenieros Arquitectos y Agrimensores in spanish) chose the outstanding professional, professor and entrepreneur Mario Penzo Fondeur as Civil Engineer of the Century.

Born in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, the September 26, 1910, son of Augusto Penzo and Leticia Fondeur. He married Dona Lea Pichardo Vicioso. Has 9 children of which there are 8 with degrees: Four in Civil Engineering, two in Architecture, one Degree in Chemistry and one in International Services.

The engineer Mario Penzo Fondeur, earned his bachelor's degree at the Normal School in his hometown in 1928 and graduated in civil engineering at the Technical School in Dresden, Germany in May 1934.

He has in his professional credit the design, calculation and construction of a bridge of reinforced concrete in melons, Bani (1937), which was the first made entirely by professional Dominicans. This building was followed other bridges in various parts of the country being Penzo Fondeur part of the Directorate General for Public Works and Communications where he worked 9 years from 1937 to 1946, as a manager of the buildings section, later of the Design and then General Sub-Director of the same section.

As a professor of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Central University of Santo Domingo, for 27 years (1938-1965) for the first time in our country a civil engineer gave chairs of Technical Mechanics and Statics of Building and Structural Steel. He is founder and president in 1956 until the present signature Civil and Marine Construction, C por A, dedicated to the design and construction of civil engineering works area in which he has made a vast and important work to be among the best known and prestigious national companies in the construction industry.

For the engineer Mario Penzo Fondeur, one of his greatest satisfactions what constitutes success and the professional quality of a large number of ex-disciples to which as we saw remembers all their names.
